Outback Trading Company has stepped boldly into the boot business, as well. Several years in development, its new line of men's and ladies' boots features oiled, natural full-grain tumbled leather with a waterproof membrane, a removable EVA cushioned insole and an oil-resistant rubber outsole — all with that rugged Outback appeal that complements both Western and English attire. T e core business seemingly took a supporting role to fashion over the past few years, but that's changing, too. Core, in fact, is the new focus at Rocky. "Durango has been growing, and we see the Western business is growing," says Amber Vanwy, national sales and marketing manager for Rocky's Durango brand. "So what we've done this year is refocus Rocky. We want to make sure we do that with a dedicated sales force, and we have been honing down the line to what ranchers and horsemen and farmers are wearing." Such as Rocky's Farmsted line. "It's Rocky's most basic boot, for the younger audience who doesn't need all the technology but wants a Western boot they can work in," Western marketing manager Kristin Dille says. Rocky's Interf ex line features "super f exible" boots with direct-attached outsoles. "T e outsole's never going to fall of the boot," Dille says. "It's the only boot on the market right now with a direct-attached outsole." An addition to Rocky's buckaroo boots, Ranch Master comes with lugged outsoles. "Just enough for traction but still great for riding," Dille says. Over at Justin Brands, Chippewa is reaching out to women with its f rst ladies boot as in the American- made Arroyo line of durable boots with Vibram outsoles. "It's for the lady who doesn't want all the frills of a fancy boot," Chippewa's Wayne Downing says. "It's the working cowgirl boot." Justin has introduced new styles in its AQHA and Bent Rail lines, with a focus on new colors. Nocona is targeting core cowgirls with boots aimed for the high school rodeo scene and featuring fun prints and leathers with a metallic feel.
