12 Western & English Today FALL 2017 horses, Spanish horses, or Arabian horses, we just think the entire horse world is beautiful." As its first major commissioned project, Rönner was tasked with designing the official Colombian equestrian team jackets. From there, the brand evolved into a full range of women's fashions, from blouses and dresses to slippers, boots, and accessories, all with equestrian appeal. "I think people that are passionate about horses, they want to have everything with horses. ey love a nice print where there is a horse or a handbag where there is a little detail that relates to their lifestyle," says Carin of the designs. "What's the day like of our customers? We picture a woman that is very classic, that is practical," Carin adds. "She has a lot to do in the day. She rides, and she runs the house. She probably has kids, so she wants to look chic, she wants to be elegant, but she still wants to be comfortable." at's why timeless style and transitional designs are essential to the collection. But offering comfortable and functional pieces for the serious rider has become just as important, giving rise to Rönner Sport. "A year and a half ago, we created the sport line, which is more focused on the performance. People are loving the prints, but people who ride would also like to wear our shirts for competition, or have intelligent fabrics like antiperspirant and UV-filtered, so that side of the brand is really growing too," Carin says, citing the show shirts, training zips, and waterproof jackets as being geared toward the active equestrian competitor. e Rönner collection has gone from two local stores in Bogotá to being sold in Sweden, Germany, Saudi Arabia, Japan, and Switzerland, as well as in 40 stores in the United States under the exclusivity of Fabiano Mitchell. Looking forward, Rönner Design has continued European expansion in its sights, as well as branching out into the horse racing and Western equestrian worlds. Its new nautical-themed collection is currently being debuted at AETA in the United States and at Spoga in Germany. ronnerdesign.com THE LOOK: EQUESTRIAN STREETWEAR For both the serious horsewoman and mere equestrian at heart, these classic pieces are wardrobe staples that can be dressed up or down for any occasion.
